School Life

School is one of the most important things in every human life. Marello School not only helps our students learn necessary concepts and skills, but it also allows students to interact with their peer groups socially, academically and emotionally. Here studies and discipline go hand in hand. Marello prepares our students to enter public life. Virtues such as truthfulness, tolerance, discipline and obedience is developed among the students. Here the students are trained to adjust themselves with the society at life. They learn and play with the spirit of togetherness.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.ACADEMIC YEAR
The school academic begins in June and ends in March.
2. ADMISSION
1. The management reserves to itself the right of admission.
2. A child should have completed the age of 6 years on or before June 1 of the year of admission to STD 1. However all government directives regarding age at admission will be applicable. A birth certificate from Municipality / Panchayat office should be produced as proof of age. The norms regarding age at admission may be revised according to government directives.
3. A child who has studied in another recognized school will have to submit a leaving certificate from the last school attended.
3. WITHDRAWAL
A calendar month’s notice in writing must be given before the withdrawal of a student from the school, failing which tuition fees & term fees will be charged. Transfer certificate will not be issued, unless the parent / guardian pays all the dues and applies for it in the proper form.
4. DISMISSAL
Any pupil who is repeatedly or willfully mischievous, guilty of malpractice in connection with examination or has committed an act of serious indiscipline, shall be expelled from the school or removed from the roll for a specific period by the Head of the institution.
5. EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION
A. SCHOLASTIC EVALUATION
In accordance with the direction of the CBSE, the school will follow the following system for the examination and promotion. There will be Two Terms: Term I (June – October) & Term II (November – March)
Each students should get 33% for every subject to be promoted to the next class. 75% of attendance is compulsory for the promotion.
B. CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES:
• House-wise Competitions: GK, Quiz, Spelling Bee, Debates, Dramatics, Music, Games, March Past & Athletics.
• Club Activities: Science Club, Eco Club, Mathematics Club, Art & Craft Club, Literary Club, Social Club, Anti- narcotic Club & Health & Wellness Club .
• Extra-Curricular Activities: Classical Music, Dance, Karate, Yoga, Origami, Calligraphy, Aerobics, Photoshop, Abacus Training, Drawing, Personality Development, Table Tennis & Chess
• Sport & Games: Football, Basketball, Volleyball & Badminton
• Celebrations: Marellian Arts Fest, Independence Day, Onam, Marellian Sports Fest, Christmas & Annual day
• Counselling: Every Wednesday (09.30 am – 03.30 pm)
• Parent-Teacher Meetings: Twice in a year (May / June & March / April)
6. ATTENDANCE
• No student should absent himself/ herself from class without sufficient reasons.
• Reasons for the absence must be clearly stated in the ‘Leave Record’ of the handbook.
• In case of serious illness, the principal must be informed within five days with a Doctor’s Certificate accompanied by the leave application from the parent/guardian.
• Those who return to school after absenting themselves without prior permission shall not enter the class without the leave note countersigned by the Principal.
• The students are not allowed to go out of the campus during school hours, including recess time.
7. THE SCHOOL UNIFORM
• The school uniform is obligatory on all working days and also at School official functions. Parents should take special care to send their child to school, neatly dressed, in the prescribed uniform that reflects the discipline of the school.
• The identity card with tag, belt, shoes & socks must be worn every day.
• On rainy days (till the end of September): No need of shoes.
• No jewelry, except ear studs is allowed for the girls during school hours. Girls with long hair must use only black bush & white hair band. Girls with short hair can use white hair band. Every Wednesday – White uniform & House wise ‘T’ Shirt. All must be neatly dressed in school uniform and it is mandatory on all school days and at official school functions, unless otherwise informed.
8. DISCIPLINE
• Discipline is an integral part of the learning process. To develop self-control, a student must be trained to bridle emotions and impulses, to live in harmony with others, to respect family traditions, to keep the laws of the country and to obey the commandments of God.
• All students shall be in the school premises a few minutes before the morning bell and take part in the solemn morning assembly in an orderly and respectful manner.
• In the afternoon students should be in their classrooms at the first bell and maintain silence.
• No behavior affecting the discipline of the students will be permitted. Students shall keep silence and decorum in the class rooms and corridors. They shall not leave their classrooms or enter any other classroom without permission.
• Speaking English is recommended at school, at home and wherever you are because that will help you get to greater heights.
• The school premises and classrooms must be kept clean and tidy.
• Any damage caused to the property of the school or the other students must be reported to the principal and will have to be compensated.
• Students shall be responsible for the safe custody of their belongings. It is suggested that their names be inscribed on articles like lunch boxes, school bags and umbrellas. Lost articles deposited in the school office must be claimed within a month.
• Every student shall endeavor to keep up the high standard of the school by excelling in studies and good manners. Politeness and courtesy in speech and conduct as well as cleanliness and grace of person are to be cherished.
• It is not advisable for students to have too much of money or expensive article in their possession. The school will not be responsible for the loss of such articles.
• No meetings, parties or organized school activities should be arranged without the approval of the Principal. All collections must be made through the office.
• All students are sincerely exhorted to cultivate the habit of morning and evening prayer . Catholic students are specially advised to assist regularly at Holy Mass and frequent the sacraments and thus be witnesses to Christ in their daily lives. Catholic parents would do well to encourage their children in this matter.
• English is the language of communication for students and teachers in the school. To ensure that children acquire competency in this language, it is compulsory that they speak in English at all levels of school activities including the school bus.
9. CONVEYANCE & FEE
• Conveyance fee will be charged according to the distance.
• Children should be escorted to and from the school/bus stops by authorized persons.
• At the bus stop, children should get into the bus in an orderly manner. As a safety measure, they should not put their hands or head out even to salute any one.
• After getting off the bus, children should wait at the bus stop till the bus moves again. They should be very cautious and see that they cross the road only after the bus has left the stop so that accidents can be avoided.
10. FIELD TRIPS
• Guided Field Trips have great educational value for the students. Hence one-day trips are arranged to various places of interest.
11. HOUSE SYSTEM
In order to foster a constructive and competitive spirit and to create a sense of belonging, all students are grouped into four houses. a) Blue, b) Green, c) Yellow, d) Red. Each house has teachers to guide.
