HISTORY

The Oblates of St Joseph,(OSJ, for short) a religious organization founded by Bishop St Joseph Marello in the mid- nineteenth century, has a long history of educational activities and youth formation in Perumpilly, Narakal. Marello Public School is an educational endeavor of the Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph (OSJ).

ST. JOSEPH, OUR PATRON

St Joseph is the Patron of the School. He is the most revered saint of the Catholic Church. Bishop Marello was greatly influenced by the holy, just and virtuous life of Saint Joseph, and, therefore gave the Saint’s name to the Organization he founded. March 19 is the feast of St Joseph, which is marked as the Patron’s Day.

ST. JOSEPH MARELLO, OUR FOUNDER

The School has been named after St Joseph Marello (1844 – 1895). He was born in the Province of Piedmont in Italy in the year 1844. He became a priest in 1868, and a Bishop in 1888. In the year 1884, Joseph Marello founded the Congregation of the Oblates of St Joseph He died in 1895 at the age of 51 and was declared a Saint by Pope John Paul II.
